Hyderabad: The Commissioner’s Task Force, North Zone Team, in coordination with local police from Banjara Hills, Borabanda, Pet-Basheerabad, and Sanathnagar, arrested eight individuals in connection with a series of two-wheeler thefts across Hyderabad and Cyberabad Commissionerate limits. Four stolen Honda Dio scooters, valued at approximately ₹2 lakh, were recovered from the vehicle theft gang.
The accused were identified as Shaik Azharuddin (20), a mechanic from Banjara Hills; Mohammed Sameer (20), a car glass film worker from Bowenpally; Mohammed Feroz (18), a butcher also from Bowenpally; and Mohammed Shadab (18), a mechanic from Banjara Hills. Three juveniles and a mobile spare parts seller, Syed Ali Murtuza (21), were also apprehended for receiving stolen property.
According to the police, Azharuddin, with an accomplice Ayaan (currently absconding), stole a Dio vehicle from the Banjara Hills area. He sold it to a juvenile for ₹10,000, spending the money on personal expenses. The stolen scooter was recovered from the juvenile’s possession.
In a separate case, childhood friends Mohammed Feroz and Mohammed Sameer collaborated to steal another Dio vehicle from Borabanda. The two were arrested before they could sell the stolen vehicle.
Another theft was committed by Mohammed Shadab and Rizwan (absconding), who stole a Dio scooter from the Pet-Basheerabad area. The stolen vehicle was found with Shadab at the time of his arrest.
In the fourth case, Shoeb and Syed Abdul Rehan stole a Dio scooter from Sanathnagar. The vehicle changed hands multiple times, eventually being resold by three juveniles before ending up with Syed Ali Murtuza, who bought it for ₹10,000. While Rehan was traced to the Sub-Jail in Kandi, Sangareddy, Shoeb remains at large.
The police booked cases under Cr.No. 68/2025 (Banjara Hills PS), 700/2024 (Borabanda PS), 775/2025 (Pet Basheerabad PS), and 238/2025 (Sanathnagar PS), all under Section 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The operation was led by Inspector P. Raghavender, with SIs Srinivasulu Dasu and C. Raghavender Reddy of the North Zone Task Force, alongside crime staff from the respective police stations.
