Hyderabad: Telangana will host Pitch2Press, a global-first platform that connects startups directly with journalists. The event will take place on September 29 at Trident Hotel in Hyderabad, featuring 100 curated innovations and over 100 IT-sector journalists.
Launching the event poster on Thursday, Telangana IT and Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu praised the initiative. He said Pitch2Press would give startups direct media exposure, often missing in their funding-focused journey.
“Every innovation deserves a story,” the minister said. “A single article can reach audiences no boardroom pitch can access. I urge all startups and scale-ups to seize this unique chance.”
DIGITHON’s grassroots impact echoed in new media push
Sridhar Babu also highlighted DIGITHON’s past success. He cited his native village, Dhanwada in Manthani, which became fully digital through the initiative. According to him, Pitch2Press builds on that momentum by giving voice and visibility to local innovators.
Speaking at the launch, WTITC founder Sundeep Kumar Makthala described the event as more than a gathering. “It’s a platform to turn innovation into influence,” he said. He noted that early-stage startups often lack access to media, despite offering high-impact ideas. “By uniting 100 journalists and 100 startups under one roof, we’re giving innovation the attention it deserves,” he added.
Bridging the storytelling gap in India’s innovation ecosystem
Pitch2Press aims to create one-on-one dialogue between innovators and the press. This setup will help journalists uncover fresh, underreported stories. At the same time, entrepreneurs will gain national exposure without filters or middlemen.
DIGITHON team members Bhagya Lakshmi Vakiti, Hema Maram, Deepika Joshi, Tejaswini, Nitignya Harkara, and Prakash helped organise the initiative and attended the launch event.
