Over 1.8 lakh idols immersed in Hyderabad, says CP CV Anand

Hyderabad: Hyderabad Police Commissioner C.V. Anand on Sunday confirmed that Ganesh idol immersions concluded peacefully across the city. He said devotees immersed more than 1.8 lakh idols over the past ten days.

Speaking from Tank Bund, Anand said over 25,000 idols were immersed there in just two days. Around 900 idols were still pending and would be immersed by 2 p.m., he added.

He noted that many idols were unusually tall, some reaching 40 feet. This created logistical issues despite prior precautions. In some cases, tall idols touched overhead wires, which caused delays in the processions.

Anand reported five minor incidents during the immersion. Hyderabad idol immersion

Authorities started clearing traffic routes across the city. Roads at Bashir Bagh and Liberty would reopen fully after the final immersions. The Telugu Talli Flyover–Khairatabad stretch would also reopen soon. At Tank Bund, officers had already started easing traffic while immersions continued.

Anand thanked officials, volunteers, and citizens for helping manage the massive event smoothly.
