Hyderabad: Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) received international recognition for operational excellence at the 2025 edition of the International Association of Public Transport (UITP) awards held recently in Hamburg, Germany.
According to Managing Director and CEO KVB Reddy, the award was given for the project titled ‘Optimised Metro Operation Plans Leading to Increased Revenue for Train’, developed in collaboration with the Roads and Transport Authority.
The submission was shortlisted among the top five entries globally under the ‘Operational Excellence’ category. The UITP received over 500 entries from leading transit operators worldwide for the 2025 awards.
Hyderabad Metro’s project was specifically noted for its use of data-based operational strategies. The recognition cited its efficient urban transit management and innovative approach to revenue optimisation.
Reddy expressed satisfaction at the achievement, calling it a proud moment for positioning the Hyderabad Metro on a global platform.
