Hyderabad police direct hotels, lodges in North Zone to tighten security and legal compliance

Hyderabad: Hyderabad City Police have instructed all hotels and lodges in the North Zone to follow safety laws and legal norms strictly. The department warned that any violations would lead to strict legal action.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (North Zone) S. Rashmi Perumal, IPS, held a meeting on November 12 with more than 100 hotel and lodge owners and managers. ACP Gopalapuram and Station House Officers from the zone also joined the meeting. The initiative followed directions from the Commissioner of Police.

The DCP highlighted the need for full compliance with the Telangana State Public Safety Act, trade licence rules, and the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS). To improve safety and transparency, she outlined several mandatory instructions.

Key directives for hotel and lodge operators

All hotel managers must maintain a detailed visitor register and submit daily guest records to the local SHO. During check-in, staff must verify each guest’s ID proof and retain it for police review.

Police also instructed all establishments to install CCTV systems with the minimum backup required under the Public Safety Act. Additionally, hotels must inform local police and get prior approval before hosting events, meetings, or training programmes.

Authorities issued strict warnings against allowing illegal activities on the premises. These include prostitution, drug trafficking, and other criminal acts. Managements must deploy proper security, including door frame and hand-held metal detectors, as well as trained security staff.

Hyderabad Police urged hotel and lodge owners to maintain lawful operations and warned that non-compliance would lead to prompt action.
