Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Old City Metro works have entered a crucial stage, with land acquisition and demolition of affected properties nearing completion. The 7.5-kilometre corridor required 886 properties after advanced engineering reduced the original count of 1,100.
Metro MD NVS Reddy said over 550 demolitions are already complete and ₹433 crore in compensation has been paid to property owners. Road widening and clearance activities are progressing rapidly under Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s directions.
Hyderabad Old City Metro prepares for pillar and station works
Despite challenges from complex electrical cables, utility lines, and festivals, the project advanced without major disruption. Preparatory works for metro pillars and stations are underway. DGPS surveys, soil tests, and alignment planning are being executed to ensure structural safety.
Agencies, including Hyderabad Water Board, GHMC, TGPSPDCL, and BSNL, are cooperating to shift underground utilities before foundation works. Sensitive heritage structures along the alignment are also being safeguarded.
Metro officials said once these preparatory stages conclude, construction of piers and stations will begin in full swing.
