Hyderabad: The West Zone Task Force police arrested Peddeti Yohan on Monday for issuing fake doctorates. Officers later handed him over to Saifabad police for further questioning. They said Yohan charged each person between ₹15,000 and ₹20,000 for the bogus degrees.
According to officials, Yohan organised a fake award event at Ravindra Bharathi in Hyderabad. Soon after the ceremony, police detained him on the spot. Investigators found that he had operated under the name Gurram Jashuva Smaraka Kala Parishath. He used that name to mislead people and present fake honours for years.
