Hyderabad: City police arrested three individuals, including two interstate drug transporters from Rajasthan, in a major bust by the Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (H-NEW) and Begum Bazar Police on credible intelligence.
The accused were identified as Pawan Bhati alias Raja (24), Hemsingh Kachhawa alias Hemu (26), both from Rajasthan, and Jeetendara Panwar alias Jithu (38), a sweet shop worker residing in Kattedan, Hyderabad. Police seized 100 grams of mephedrone (Meow-Meow), a country-made pistol, six live rounds, one empty bullet shell, and three mobile phones, with an estimated total value of ₹10 lakh.
The drug was sourced from Rajasthan and transported to Hyderabad by Bhati and Hemu. Jithu, dissatisfied with his income from sweet-making, partnered with the duo to sell the drug locally. He had also illegally procured a country-made pistol and was involved in test-firing in Kattedan.
Accused Hemu had previously been arrested under POCSO and IPC charges in Nagaur, Rajasthan. He acted as a courier for the drugs on Jithu’s instructions.
The arrests were made on July 23 under Cr. No. 125/2025 at Begum Bazar PS, booked under Sections 8(c), 22(c), 27(A), 29 of the NDPS Act and 25(1)(A) of the Arms Act.
Police said the operation was conducted under the supervision of DCP Task Force/H-NEW Y.V.S. Sudheendra and Commissioner C.V. Anand, IPS. Officials urged the public to remain vigilant and report any drug-related activity to the H-NEW helpline: 8712661601.
