Hyderabad: The Hyderabad police cracked the sensational Amberpet kidnap case reported on October 29. East Zone DCP Balaswamy said police arrested ten people involved in the abduction of a man named Shyam, who was held for a ransom of ₹1.5 crore.
Police seized three cars, two bikes, and eight mobile phones from the suspects. Based on CCTV footage, investigators found that six of the accused used rented vehicles to carry out the abduction.
Amberpet kidnap case linked to property dispute and revenge
According to officials, the main accused, Madhavilatha, had married Shyam in the United States and divorced him after three years. Later, Shyam changed his name to Ali and married another woman, Fatima. Police said Shyam had recently sold properties worth around ₹20 crore inherited from his father.
Investigators identified Sai from Ramanagar as the key conspirator. Another accused, G. Preeti, worked as a lady bouncer, while L. Saritha rented a flat in the victim’s building two days before the incident to monitor his movements.
Police said the gang took Shyam to the Cherlapally area and demanded ₹30 lakh before his escape. When Shyam managed to contact a friend, that friend immediately alerted police, who began a rescue operation. Shyam escaped and later shared all details with investigators.
Police arrest 10 in Amberpet kidnap case
Officers arrested all ten accused and produced them in court for remand. DCP Balaswamy said police are tracing four more suspects linked to the case and will arrest them soon.
