Hyderabad: Hyderabad Police Commissioner C.V. Anand, IPS, on Tuesday held a preparatory meeting on idol installation and immersion arrangements for the upcoming Ganesh Chaturthi festival. The review, conducted via video conference, included city police officers from sub-inspector to additional commissioner level.
Anand detailed safety measures to be followed during idol installation, coordination with pandal organisers until immersion, and crowd control arrangements during the event. He noted that the Milad-un-Nabi festival has coincided with Ganesh Navaratri for the past three years, including this year, and called for extra caution.
The Commissioner instructed sector SIs and SHOs to collect complete details of all pandals in their areas and geo-tag them. This, he said, would help track idol movements during immersion and aid security planning.
He also directed police stations to hold regular meetings with pandal organisers and coordinate necessary facilities. The meeting was attended virtually by Additional CP (Law & Order) Vikram Singh Mann, Additional CP (Crime) P. Vishwaprasad, Joint CP (Traffic) Joel Davis, Joint CP (Admin) Parimala Hana Nuthan, DCP (Special Branch) K. Apoorva Rao, DCP (IT Cell) K. Pushpa, and other officials.
