Hyderabad: Hyderabad Police Commissioner C.V. Anand on Thursday said the city police had launched a detailed security and traffic plan for the upcoming Ganesh immersion and Milad-un-Nabi celebrations.
He held a video conference with senior officers to review arrangements. Ganesh idol immersion, including the large Khairatabad idol, will take place on September 6, while Milad-un-Nabi will be observed on September 5. Anand said the city must stay alert to avoid conflicts between processions and religious events.
The immersion is expected to run for 40 hours. Police teams, including Blue Colts and patrol units, will increase surveillance. Traffic controls will be tightened around key points like MJ Market and Basheer Bagh.
Special focus on Khairatabad Ganesh and MJ Market rally
Anand said police will increase security at MJ Market, where a Union Minister will attend a public event. He stressed the need for close coordination for the safe movement of the Khairatabad idol.
Senior officers, including Joint CP Traffic Joel Davis, Additional CP Law & Order Vikram Singh Mann, Additional CP Crime Vishwaprasad, and DCPs K. Apoorva Rao and Pushpa, joined the meeting. Zonal DCPs participated online and confirmed local readiness.
Clear roads, document drivers, and trim overhead cables
Police urged mandapa organizers to avoid delays during the immersion. Officers will offer full support and provide more VHF sets to keep communication lines open.
Anand ordered banners at every major crossing and bridge showing height clearance details. He also directed teams to record the names and details of all drivers in the procession.
Police will work with GHMC to clear roads, cut low-hanging branches, and lift sagging cables. Officials must ensure that welcome arches do not block roads or delay the procession.
