Hyderabad: Hyderabad City Police Commissioner C.V. Anand, IPS, on Thursday led an inter-department meeting to plan smooth Ganesh Utsav celebrations. The meeting took place at the TGICCC building in the city police commissionerate. It brought together top officials from GHMC, Water Works, electricity, RTC, fire services, tourism, health, transport, and information departments. Representatives from the Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Samithi and Khairatabad Bada Ganesh Utsav Samithi also attended.
Committee members asked for quick repairs to potholes and steady street lighting at night. They urged the supply of drinking water for devotees on immersion day and transport for idol immersion. They also called for trimming tree branches blocking immersion routes. GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan, IAS, promised baby ponds, cranes, and 160 special action teams. He added that ambulances, fire units, mobile toilets, extra transformers, and barricades would be ready.
Metro Rail officials said they would run extra trips until midnight. Hyderabad Collector Harichandan, IAS, announced that medical teams would be posted at all pandals. Joint CP Traffic Joel Davis, IPS, confirmed round-the-clock deployment to ease traffic. TGICCC Director V.B. Kamalasan Reddy noted that CCTV from all three commissionerates had been linked for central monitoring.
C.V. Anand urged pandal organisers to follow court rules on immersion and to share idol details with police for better security. He asked them to appoint volunteers to help police manage crowds and traffic. He also appealed for cooperation in avoiding loud DJ systems. Since Ganesh Navaratri coincides with Milad-un-Nabi this year, he stressed the need for harmony and teamwork among all groups.
Senior police officials, GHMC heads, both major Ganesh Utsav committees, and other government officers joined the meeting.
