Hyderabad: City police have ordered the closure of all liquor outlets for 36 hours during the Ganesh immersion procession on September 6. The ban will apply to wine shops, bars, restaurants, and toddy shops across Hyderabad and Secunderabad.
Liquor ban in force for 36 hours
According to a notification issued by Hyderabad Police Commissioner C.V. Anand, all liquor outlets will remain closed from 6 a.m. on September 6 until 6 p.m. on September 7. However, registered clubs and five-star hotels will be exempted from the restriction.
Heavy security for Ganesh immersion
Police have made elaborate security arrangements for the Ganesh immersion Shobha Yatra. In addition to city police personnel, units of the Rapid Action Force have been deployed. Security has been tightened near mosques and temples, with strict instructions to prevent untoward incidents such as theft, eve-teasing, and chain snatching. Commissioner Anand directed police to maintain strict vigil throughout the procession.
