Hyderabad: Acting on intelligence from the Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (HNEW), city police arrested a cocaine peddler and a consumer in Langer House on August 10. They seized 15 grams of cocaine and two mobile phones, worth ₹3.95 lakh.
The accused, 33-year-old Mohit Sanjay Mehra from Narsingi, Hyderabad, was caught along with 28-year-old consumer Nagaram Jason Raj, a private employee from Padmarao Nagar, Secunderabad.
Police said Mehra, originally from Mumbai, holds a B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering. He shifted to Hyderabad in 2021 with plans to expand his business. After a divorce, he fell into regular drug use at pubs. That addiction pulled him into peddling.
For the last five months, he sourced cocaine directly from Mumbai, paying ₹10,000 per gram. He sold it in Hyderabad at ₹25,000 per gram. His aim, police said, was to fund a lavish lifestyle by targeting high-paying customers.
Police booked the case under Crime No. 171/2025 at Langer House Police Station. The charges include sections 8(c), 22(b), and 27(b) of the NDPS Act, 1985.
HNEW issued a public warning. They said even well-educated professionals are falling into drug use and turning into peddlers. The agency urged parents to stay alert and monitor their children’s habits. Citizens can report drug-related activity to HNEW at 8712661601.
Inspector S. Bala Swamy of HNEW led the operation, along with Sub-Inspector B. Manoj Kumar and SI Syed Munawar Ali of Langer House Police Station. DCP Y.V.S. Sudheendra supervised the arrest.
