Hyderabad: Nallakunta police on Monday arrested three goldsmiths for cheating jewellers by diverting gold collected for making ornaments. The accused Abbas Ali Seikh and his sons Razzak Seikh and Ramij Seikh live in Chelapura, Hyderabad, though they originally hail from Bardhaman district, West Bengal.
Multiple cases registered
The trio face cases in four police stations: Nallakunta (Cr. No. 253/2025), Goshamahal (Cr. No. 231/2025), Hussainialam (Cr. No. 201/2025), and Charminar (Cr. No. 165/2025). Authorities booked them for cheating and breach of trust under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
Modus operandi

Instead, he diverted 614.8 grams of jewellery from Shree Tulja Bhavani Jewellers and 1,292 grams of bullion from Sri Durga Bhavani Bullions. He then sold the stolen gold to unknown buyers.
Moreover, officials said he used the proceeds to pay staff salaries, invest in the stone business, and fund a lavish lifestyle.
Arrest and recovery
Later, acting on credible information, Additional Inspector A. Ramulu and his crime team raided the accused’s residence. They nabbed all three and seized cash, gold ornaments, and stones worth ₹90 lakh.
Investigation under way
Meanwhile, SHO Maruthi Prasad, ACP G. Jagan, Addl. DCP J. Narsaiah, and East Zone DCP B. Bala Swamy, IPS, are supervising the case. Further inquiries are under way to trace other financial transactions linked to the offenders.
