Hyderabad: In a joint operation, the Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (HNEW) and Chaderghat Police arrested four drug peddlers and seized 74 bottles of Mephentermine Sulphate injections worth ₹1.28 lakh. Officials also recovered four mobile phones used in the racket.
The accused was identified as Mohd. Imran Ali, alias Kala Imran (32), a rowdy sheeter from Malakpet; Ranga Shanker Goud (65), a medical store owner from Barkatpura; D. Ritesh Kumar (32), an Apollo Pharmacy employee from Kachiguda; and his younger brother, D. Mohit Kumar (31), a finance recovery agent.
Investigators said Imran Ali, himself addicted to Mephentermine, sourced the injections from an interstate supplier in Delhi and from local contacts. Ritesh and Mohit obtained the drugs from Shanker Goud, who allegedly sold them illegally from his medical store without prescriptions. The gang resold the injections at inflated prices across Hyderabad to fund extravagant lifestyles.
HNEW urges vigilance on Mephentermine drug abuse
Police appealed to citizens, particularly parents, to stay alert to signs of drug abuse among youth. They urged the public to share drug-related information with the HNEW helpline at 8712661601. Officials said community participation was vital to achieving a drug-free Hyderabad.
