HYDERABAD: The Special Branch of Hyderabad City Police has accelerated the verification of Pakistani nationals residing within its jurisdiction. The ongoing process aims to verify their current addresses, visa categories, and legal status.
While most foreign nationals in Hyderabad are required to register at the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) in Shamshabad, a dedicated registration office for Pakistani and Bangladeshi nationals operates under Hyderabad Police at Purani Haveli in the Old City.
According to this registration unit, a total of 208 Pakistani nationals are currently registered in Hyderabad. Among them, 156 hold long-term visas, typically granted on the basis of marriage to Indian citizens or close familial ties. Another 13 are on short-term visas, while the remaining individuals are in the city on medical visas for treatment.
Following a directive from the central government, Special Branch officials are verifying the residential details and other credentials of all these individuals to identify any who may be residing illegally.
This verification initiative is being carried out in view of security concerns, and authorities are working swiftly to complete the process.
