Hyderabad: A night of relentless downpour left Hyderabad battered, flooding low-lying areas and paralysing traffic across the city. Vehicles stood stranded for kilometres, forcing commuters to endure hours-long delays. Power outages hit several localities, while uprooted trees blocked arterial roads.
The India Meteorological Department issued a Hyderabad rain alert for Friday evening, warning of light to moderate showers with thunderstorms in parts of the city. Officials ruled out rainfall matching Thursday’s intensity and said no precipitation was expected before afternoon.
Within the next two hours, heavy rain was forecast in Medak, Kamareddy, Sangareddy, Siricilla and Nizamabad districts. Residents in southern and western Telangana were advised to remain indoors unless essential travel was unavoidable.
