HYDERABAD: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has directed officials to remain on high alert as heavy rains and strong winds lashed Hyderabad, submerging low-lying areas. He instructed authorities to take necessary measures to prevent inconvenience to the public.
Reviewing the situation, the Chief Minister ordered the Chief Secretary to monitor developments continuously. He emphasised the need for officials from all departments to coordinate efforts to minimise disruptions caused by waterlogging, traffic congestion, and power outages.
Instructions for Various Departments
– GHMC, Police, and Hyderabad Water Board: CM Reddy stressed that these departments must work in coordination to ensure that water does not stagnate on roads and to prevent traffic congestion and power disruptions.
– Power Department: He directed officials to restore electricity immediately in areas where power supply has been affected.
– Rescue and Relief Operations: In flood-affected colonies, necessary relief measures should be undertaken to assist residents.
– Traffic Management: Police officials were instructed to clear traffic bottlenecks swiftly to enable commuters to reach their destinations without delays.
Additionally, the Chief Minister issued instructions to district collectors, police officials, and other department heads across Telangana to remain vigilant, as heavy rains, strong winds, and hailstorms have also been reported in other parts of the state.
