Hyderabad: Hyderabad City Police SHE Teams announced special safety measures for the upcoming Ganesh Festival, focusing on protecting women and children at pandals, immersion routes, and crowded public places.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Women Safety Wing) Dr. Lavanya NJP said the initiative aims to ensure the festival is celebrated “with devotion, not with wrong intention.” SHE Teams will stay on duty round-the-clock at major junctions, Ganesh pandals, and immersion stretches.
Plainclothes officers and surveillance cameras will monitor gatherings to curb eve-teasing, stalking, harassment, and misbehaviour. Police warned they will take strict action against offenders.
SHE Teams urge women devotees to seek help without hesitation
Officials urged women devotees to contact SHE Teams immediately if they face inconvenience or harassment. Citizens can also call Dial 100 or use WhatsApp at 9490616555 for quick assistance.
SHE Teams issued several alerts for the public:
- Women and children should stay alert and report any misbehaviour right away.
- Fraudsters may create fake online profiles to exploit victims.
- Oversharing personal details on social media increases the risk of impersonation and identity theft.
- Citizens should use strong passwords and enable two-factor authentication for online security.
The Hyderabad SHE Teams appealed to citizens to celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi with dignity and cooperate with law enforcement. “Our aim is to ensure that everyone, especially women and children, can participate in the festivities safely,” the DCP said.
