Hyderabad: A 23-year-old man working at a café in Banjara Hills died by suicide after reportedly falling into heavy debt due to online Ludo and betting apps.
The deceased, Gaddameedi Venkatesh, hailed from Jakler village in Narva mandal of Mahbubnagar district. He was employed in gardening work at Roast Café on Road No. 14, Banjara Hills.
According to police, Venkatesh had borrowed approximately ₹6 lakh and became trapped in financial distress after prolonged use of online gaming and betting platforms. Unable to cope with pressure from lenders, he attempted suicide two days ago.
Friends intervened and admitted him to NIMS Hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries on Monday night. Banjara Hills police have registered a case and launched an investigation.
