HYDERABAD: Spain’s world-famous La Tomatina festival is set to find its Indian counterpart as Hyderabad gears up to host the country’s first-ever tomato festival. Organised by Prism Outdoors, the event promises a colourful blend of tomato fights, music, food, and fun – right in the heart of the city.
Scheduled for May 11, the festival will take place at Expadium Eco Park, a sprawling 160-acre venue, starting from 10 AM. Taking inspiration from Buñol’s iconic tomato-throwing tradition in Spain, Hyderabad’s version will feature participants hurling tomatoes at one another in a joyful, high-energy setting.
To recreate the vibrant chaos of the original, organisers have arranged nearly 1,000 kilograms of tomatoes for the event. Attendees can expect not only the tomato brawl but also a music stage, crazy fun zones, dance floors, and delicious food stalls offering a wide variety of cuisines.
The entry tickets are priced between ₹499 and ₹3,499, with access likely tiered based on experiences or amenities offered. The event is being positioned as a unique cultural and entertainment spectacle – marking Hyderabad as a pioneer in bringing this Spanish-inspired celebration to India.
Whether you’re looking to let loose in a tomato war, dance to live music, or just indulge in food and fun, the festival offers something for everyone.
