Hyderabad: Hyderabad has witnessed a steep rise in traffic violations, especially in high-density areas like Mozamjahi Market. During a three-hour special drive, police detected over 6,000 violations at this single location.
According to officials, surveillance cameras now capture nearly 15,000 violations daily. Police estimate that if 24-hour monitoring were conducted, each vehicle could attract 10 to 20 challans.
Citywide, over 20,000 challans are issued every day, with the majority involving two-wheeler riders.
Data from the last nine months highlights the extent of non-compliance:
- Not wearing a helmet: 30,51,145 cases
- Wrong-side driving: 4,83,781
- Overspeeding/Dangerous driving: 1,94,815
- Triple riding: 1,33,927
- Signal jumping: 1,20,265
- Driving while using mobile: 76,472
- Drunk driving: 36,130
- Not wearing seatbelt: 31,108
- Overloading passengers: 8,650
- Juvenile driving: 6,976
Police have urged citizens to follow traffic rules strictly, wear helmets and seatbelts, and respect speed limits to avoid accidents and penalties.
