Hyderabad: A young man working as a gardener in Hyderabad’s upscale Banjara Hills area died by suicide after reportedly losing over ₹5–6 lakh in online gaming.
The victim, Venkatesh, hailed from Jaklair village in Mahbubnagar district and had been employed as a gardener in the city. According to sources, he had recently developed a severe addiction to online gaming and was reportedly playing even during work hours.
The financial loss and resulting psychological stress reportedly pushed him into despair. He consumed a poisonous substance at his workplace and collapsed shortly thereafter.
Venkatesh was rushed in a semi-conscious state to NIMS Hospital, but doctors declared him dead.
