Hyderabad Zoo received the zebras under an animal exchange programme. In return, the zoo offered ten pairs of mouse deer to the Radha Krishna Trust. The management said the addition would attract more visitors and strengthen the zoo’s animal collection.
Principal Chief Conservator of Forests Dr C. Suvarna inaugurated the new Simba canteen near the railway station and a night house for bears. She said Nehru Zoological Park ranks among India’s oldest zoos and offers some of the best-designed enclosures in the country.
Dr Suvarna noted that more than 25 lakh people visit the zoo each year, showing its enduring appeal. Senior officials, including Elusing Meru, IFS, Chief Wildlife Warden of Telangana, the Zoo Director, and the Curator, attended the event.
