Hyderabad: HYDRAA has taken enforcement action over a stormwater drain encroachment by Vasavi Construction Company near the Bharatnagar–Kaithalapur stretch. The civic agency responded after receiving complaints from residents about illegal construction along the canal that links Kamuni Cheruvu and Maisamma Cheruvu.
Following a field inspection on Wednesday by Commissioner A.V. Ranganath near Hitech City Railway Station, it was found that the drain had been filled with mud, violating drainage norms. Officials confirmed the company had failed to maintain the required 17-meter width and 9-meter buffer.

The Commissioner directed the immediate removal of the encroachment. JCBs and tipper trucks were deployed to clear the mud, which was shifted to a Vasavi-owned plot. Additionally, irrigation officials filed a complaint with the Kukatpally Police, leading to a formal case against the company.
During the inspection, HYDRAA staff also noted concrete pillars installed inside the canal, believed to support an illegal slab. These were ordered dismantled. Officials recalled that Vasavi Construction had been earlier warned to adhere to stormwater regulations during the Vasavi Sarovar project in Kaithalapur.
