Hyderabad: Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) Commissioner Ranganath on Monday said land grabbers used fake documents to encroach on Survey No. 302 in Gajularamaram.
HYDRAA chief says land grabbers used fake pattas in Gajularamaram
Speaking at the HYDRAA headquarters, Ranganath alleged that encroachers illegally occupied land in Devender Nagar, Balayya Basti, and Galipochamma Basti. He said even rowdy-sheeters were involved.
According to him, the encroachers seized 200 to 300 square yards, built a single room, and obtained power connections. They then forced poor families to stay there by paying ₹2,000 a month and later sold the land using fake pattas.
Ranganath said officials identified more than 900 illegal structures. He clarified that HYDRAA had not touched any of the 640 houses with occupants. “We only demolished structures under construction and those without electricity connections,” he said.
He asked buyers to reveal the names of the sellers who cheated them. Ranganath estimated that encroached land stretched across 300 acres with a market value of more than ₹15,000 crore. He said the scam operated using forged occupancy certificates.
Responding to criticism on social media over demolitions in Gajularamaram, Ranganath said everyone was free to take their own political line but urged people not to believe propaganda against HYDRAA. He said reclaiming government land was never easy and required strong action.
