Hyderabad: In a major anti-encroachment drive, HYDRAA on Saturday reclaimed 12 acres of government land valued at ₹500 crore in Shatamrai village, Shamshabad Mandal, Ranga Reddy District.
The land, allocated to the Board of Intermediate Education in 2011, had come under illegal occupation. HYDRAA removed the boundary walls and sheds, fenced the site, and erected boards marking it as government property.
Aneesh Constructions and a local political figure had claimed ownership, stating they bought it from Paigah family heirs. Revenue officials, however, confirmed that no Paigah land exists in Shamshabad. They said documents from unrelated areas were being used to back the encroachment.
Locals alerted HYDRAA after construction activity began. The Intermediate Board also submitted a complaint. Acting on both, HYDRAA and revenue officers carried out a site inspection.
Though the encroachers claimed to use the land for farming, officials found it rocky and unfit for cultivation. HYDRAA cleared 11 acres and spared one acre, which includes a temple, mosque, and a few homes.
Officials identified Sripad Desh Pandey of Aneesh Constructions as being involved in several land disputes. They are reviewing other cases tied to his name.
The Telangana government has given HYDRAA the responsibility to identify and secure all encroached government lands in and around Hyderabad. So far, the team has retrieved hundreds of acres. The Shamshabad operation is the latest in that mission.
