iBomma admin sent to 5-day police custody in piracy case

Hyderabad: A Hyderabad court on Wednesday granted five-day police custody of Immadi Ravi, the alleged administrator of the iBomma movie piracy network. Ravi is the main accused in the high-profile case that has rocked the Telugu film industry.

Cybercrime police, who had sought a week-long custody, told the Nampally Criminal Court that Ravi’s custodial interrogation was critical. It was necessary to uncover the technical and financial backbone of the operation. After reviewing the petition, the court approved five days of custody.

ED joins probe into digital piracy network

Meanwhile, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has launched a parallel inquiry into the case. They are focusing on financial transactions, suspected foreign fund flows, and potential money laundering angles.

Officials are also examining Ravi’s collaborators, including technical teams and platforms that may have profited from piracy. The case continues to draw intense scrutiny from Telugu film producers and digital rights organisations.

Authorities expect fresh leads to emerge during the custody period. These could uncover wider links and operational methods behind one of the region’s biggest piracy rackets.
