Hyderabad: The officials of Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) on Monday demolished illegal structures in Puppalaguda’s Dollar Hills Colony under Manikonda Municipality, following complaints of encroachment and unauthorised construction. The action was taken after residents alleged the layout had been altered to facilitate encroachments on public spaces.
HYDRAA inspector Rajasekhar confirmed that the constructions were carried out without any approval and had now been removed. Residents had earlier approached HYDRAA Commissioner AV Ranganath, flagging illegal changes to the original layout.
Ranganath visited the site last week and collected preliminary data. After a detailed inquiry, authorities found that parts of a public park and road had been occupied using temporary tin sheds. These were torn down on Monday.
Officials said complaints from plot owners were examined on-site and both parties were called in for verification. “Only after confirming that park and road areas were indeed encroached did we act,” an official stated.
The demolished structures included unauthorised sheds raised over designated common spaces, now restored for public use.
