Hyderabad: The Commissioner’s Task Force, South Zone, in coordination with Chatrinaka Police, arrested three persons for illegally selling liquor without licenses. Officers seized 70.2 litres of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) and beer, valued at ₹50,000.
Habitual offender among accused
The main accused, N. Shobha Rani alias Lalithamma (50), is a resident of Chatrinaka and a repeat offender. Police said she regularly bought liquor in bulk from wine shops and resold it at her home at inflated prices after legal shop hours. She has 33 previous cases under the Excise and AP Prohibition Acts.
The other accused, Deepak Kumar (26) and Nitish Kumar (21), also from Chatrinaka, worked as labourers. They transported liquor on a motorcycle for resale.
Liquor bottles seized in Chatrinaka
Acting on a tip-off, the Task Force and Chatrinaka Police apprehended the trio while they were distributing and selling liquor in the area. A total of 195 bottles of various IMFL and beer brands were confiscated.
Police registered two cases under Section 34(a) of the Telangana Excise Act Crime Nos. 384/2025 and 385/2025. All three suspects and the seized items were handed over to Chatrinaka Police. The investigation is ongoing.
