Hyderabad: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasted light to moderate rain across several parts of Telangana on Wednesday. The Hyderabad Meteorological Centre said a surface cyclonic circulation was continuing over the west-central Bay of Bengal near the Andhra coast. It measured about 0.9 km above mean sea level.
Light to moderate rain likely across Telangana
The IMD reported that lower-level winds blew from the north and northwest directions across the state. These winds are expected to cause light to moderate rain in many districts. The department issued a yellow alert for Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Hanamkonda, Sangareddy, Vikarabad, Mahabubnagar, and Nagarkurnool. It warned that some areas could experience isolated heavy rain.
Heavy rainfall recorded in several districts on Tuesday
Several districts in Telangana witnessed heavy rainfall on Tuesday. The IMD recorded 7 cm in Peddur (Nagarkurnool) and 6.5 cm in Chukkapur (Rangareddy). It noted 6.4 cm in Basheerabad (Vikarabad) and 5.5 cm in Kummera (Nagarkurnool). The department also measured 5.2 cm in Choudapur (Vikarabad) and 5 cm in Thommidirekula (Rangareddy). Officials urged residents to stay alert in all yellow alert districts as rainfall may continue under the influence of the cyclonic circulation.
