Hyderabad: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Telangana, forecasting heavy to very heavy rainfall across multiple regions until tomorrow.
The alert follows widespread monsoon activity, with heavy rain expected over Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Maharashtra, Kerala, and Coastal Karnataka. Northwest India is also likely to experience heavy rain spells over the next six to seven days.

Speaking to Akashvani News, senior IMD scientist Dr. R. K. Jenamani confirmed that isolated areas in Jammu recorded exceptionally heavy rainfall over the past 24 hours, breaking a 70-year-old record. He said a yellow warning has been issued for Jammu and Kashmir for today.
Alongside Telangana’s red alert, IMD issued an orange alert for Odisha and Andhra Pradesh. The agency has urged state authorities and residents in affected regions to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions.
