Hyderabad: Hyderabad Police arrested a 62-year-old man for illegal possession and sale of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) worth ₹60,000 in Mirchowk.
Acting on a tip-off, the Commissioner’s Task Force (South Zone) and Mirchowk Police raided the accused’s residence and seized 57.2 litres of IMFL. The man, identified as P. Narsing Rao, had been buying liquor in bulk from nearby wine shops and reselling it at retail prices.
He sold liquor from his home, especially after shop closing hours and on dry days, charging customers high prices for the convenience.
Police recovered 318 bottles from his possession. Officials confirmed that the accused operated without a valid license, violating Excise Rules and sections of the BNS Act.
Authorities handed over Rao and the seized stock to Mirchowk Police Station for further legal action. The investigation is ongoing.
The raid was carried out under the supervision of Inspector K. Adireddy, with SIs M. Mahesh, Mohd Samiuz Zama, and N. Naveen.
