HYDERABAD: A man impersonating a Task Force constable managed to enter Hyderabad’s highly secured Integrated Command Control Centre (ICCC) three times, deceiving a software engineer out of ₹2.82 lakh. The incident has raised serious concerns about the facility’s security protocols, especially since it hosts key government meetings.
The impersonator, identifying himself as Harijan Govardhan, approached Gnyana Sai Prasad, a software engineer from Kukatpally, at Nilofer Café, located opposite the ICCC. Claiming to be a Task Force constable, he convinced Prasad to invest ₹2.82 lakh in a supposed hotel business. Since Prasad frequently saw him exiting the ICCC, he assumed the credentials were legitimate and transferred the amount.
After realizing the deception, Prasad immediately filed a complaint with the Banjara Hills Police. Authorities have since registered a case and launched an investigation. However, the ease with which the impersonator accessed the ICCC has sparked criticism. Given that the facility is used for high-level meetings involving Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and other key officials, the breach has raised alarms.
Notably, this case follows multiple reports of unidentified individuals entering the Telangana Secretariat under false pretenses. Since such security breaches have occurred repeatedly at high-profile government facilities, officials now face increasing pressure to implement stricter protective measures.
As the investigation progresses, authorities are expected to enhance access controls to prevent similar incidents. Meanwhile, the police have urged the public to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity immediately.
