Hyderabad: A tahsildar in Telangana’s Jagtial district was caught red-handed on Monday while allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹10,000 to process a farmer’s land registration request.
The farmer, from Raikal mandal, had approached the local revenue office to register his agricultural land. Instead of routine service, he was reportedly asked for a bribe by the in-charge tahsildar Jatanggula Ganesh.
Refusing to pay, the farmer alerted the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), which then set up a sting. Ganesh was nabbed in the act, with sleuths also detaining Mohammad Muzaffar, a document writer allegedly involved in the deal.
Both men were taken into custody and are now facing investigation under anti-graft laws. The case adds to a string of similar incidents that continue to expose corruption in land-related services at the grassroots level.
