Hyderabad: The Indiramma Housing Scheme marked a key milestone in Nalgonda district on Saturday. Roads & Buildings and Cinematography Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy handed over newly constructed homes to beneficiaries in Telakantigudem village of Kanagal mandal.
10 families receive homes; 107 sanctioned in total
During a festive house-warming ceremony, the Minister distributed patta certificates to 10 families. This completed the first batch of homes under the government’s flagship housing scheme. In total, the government sanctioned 107 homes for the village, each built at a cost of ₹5 lakh.
Komatireddy noted that these homes now hold a market value of nearly ₹15 lakh. According to him, this reflects the government’s commitment to delivering dignified, high-quality housing in rural areas.
Welfare projects and road connectivity announced
While addressing the gathering, the Minister said a fair price shop will soon open in the village to provide ration and subsidised rice. Moreover, he announced that construction of a ₹25 crore blacktop road from Telakantigudem to Dharveshipuram will start within a month after the monsoon.
He criticised the previous government for failing to deliver even a single house or ration card. In contrast, he recalled that 22 years ago, he had sanctioned homes for the same village during his tenure as MLA.
Irrigation and education investments underway
Komatireddy also announced that the SLBC irrigation project, aimed at supplying water to Nalgonda, will be completed within two years. Additionally, cement-lining works on high-level canals worth ₹450 crore are already in progress to improve irrigation efficiency.
The Minister outlined several development initiatives. These include a ₹5 crore women-run petrol bunk near the Medical College, a ₹200 crore Integrated Residential School, and a Nursing College that is currently under construction.
Local works assured for Telakantigudem
Furthermore, the Minister sanctioned a ₹30 lakh cement concrete road for the village along with LED streetlights. He assured villagers that any urgent development needs would be met through his constituency development funds.
Officials and leaders join public celebration
Additional Collector J. Srinivas, Housing PD Raj Kumar, Tahsildar Padma, MPDO Sumalatha, former Sarpanch Rambabu, and former Kanagal MPP Anoop Reddy also took part in the event.
