Hyderabad: Revenue and Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy said the state will push ahead with Indiramma housing despite lack of cooperation from the Centre, asserting that the Revanth Reddy government has prioritised the scheme even amid a financial crunch.
Addressing reporters at the Secretariat on Saturday, Ponguleti said Telangana has not relied on central assistance for house construction. “The Centre adds conditions and releases partial aid ₹72,000 per house in rural areas and ₹1.52 lakh in urban zones. But we are providing ₹5 lakh per unit,” he said.
He said the Indiramma programme is moving forward regardless of central support. A resurvey, as suggested by the Centre, is already in final stages. “Our selection rules are stricter and more organised than the Centre’s,” he said.
He also noted satisfactory progress on construction. “The previous government’s 2BHK houses lacked planning and remain incomplete. Many are without basic amenities,” he said, adding that repairs will be carried out and houses allotted.
On land-related applications, he said most involve “Saada Bainamas” and are sub judice in the High Court. “We’ve readied a plan to resolve them as soon as the judgment comes,” he said.
The Minister also launched the fifth edition of a book on Telangana’s history, movement, arts, and literature authored by his PA, Deputy Tahsildar Dr. Payala Naveen Reddy. He praised the work’s fresh approach, tailored for competitive exams, and congratulated the author.
