Hyderabad: Telangana Housing Corporation Managing Director V.P. Gautam warned that officials or staff involved in corruption in the Indiramma housing scheme will face strict action, including imprisonment.
During a review meeting on Tuesday with district project directors and deputy engineers at the Housing Corporation headquarters, Gautam explained that the government had already released ₹1,000 crore to beneficiaries. Out of 2.04 lakh houses where work began, one lakh had reached the basement level. This, he noted, reflected the importance the government attached to housing.
He urged project directors and deputy engineers to conduct regular field visits, identify gaps, and resolve issues quickly. In addition, he emphasised the need to ensure the timely release of bills to beneficiaries.
Indiramma scheme beneficiaries can upload progress photos directly
Meanwhile, Gautam referred to complaints about bribes for bill clearance and warned that disciplinary action would follow against guilty officials. Moreover, he said serious cases would be handed to the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB). Beneficiaries, he stressed, should never pay bribes for approvals.
To enhance transparency, the MD announced that beneficiaries could upload construction progress photos through the Indiramma Housing App instead of relying on village secretaries. According to him, this step would prevent intentional delays by field staff.
Furthermore, he directed district collectors to hold weekly meetings on building material prices and ensure sand, cement, and bricks remained available at affordable rates. Committees of revenue and housing officials will monitor supply to beneficiaries.
The meeting also discussed the allocation of 2BHK houses and the provision of water and electricity in new colonies. Housing Corporation advisor Eshwarayya, Chief Engineer M. Chaitanya Kumar, and several superintending engineers took part.
