Hyderabad: Selection of beneficiaries under the Indiramma housing scheme is being carried out with full transparency, Housing Corporation Managing Director V.P. Gautam said on Wednesday, warning the public against falling prey to brokers or middlemen.
No recommendations or payments are needed to secure approval under the Indiramma or 2BHK housing schemes, Gautam said. The government is following strict guidelines to ensure that only eligible applicants receive housing allotments.
In a public statement, the MD clarified that village-level lists are being drawn up openly and transparently. He said those without land are also being considered under a separate policy for 2BHK homes.
The caution comes in the wake of allegations that a person associated with the Quthbullapur MLA’s office had collected money from poor families, falsely claiming to secure house allotments. Gautam urged citizens to stay alert and avoid intermediaries.
He reiterated that the government aims to provide housing in phases to all eligible homeless families across Telangana. Applications are reviewed through field inspections and compiled under district collectors’ supervision.
The first phase targets the construction of 4.5 lakh houses, with 3,500 allotted per Assembly constituency. Gautam noted that priority has been given to the poorest of the poor, and remaining eligible applicants will be covered in later phases.
He warned that any unauthorised allotments would be cancelled, regardless of construction progress, and asked the public to report anyone soliciting money or offering to act as a broker in housing approvals.
