Indiramma Tiffin Canteens launched in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: The Telangana government launched Indiramma Tiffin Canteens in Hyderabad on Monday, fulfilling its promise to provide breakfast for just five rupees. Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, Mayor Vijayalakshmi, the local MP, and senior officials inaugurated the first outlet at Mint Compound. The minister and mayor also ate breakfast at the canteen after the launch.

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) opened 12 Indiramma Canteens across the city. Each outlet will serve millet breakfast in the morning and meals in the afternoon. Officials said the scheme will provide breakfast to 30,000 people daily.

Speaking after the inauguration, Minister Ponnam said the government allocated ₹12.60 crore annually for the programme. He added that Harikrishna Foundation will supply food to the canteens under the scheme.
