Hyderabad, February 4: The death of a seven-day-old infant in Rajanna Sircilla district has triggered protests by family members, who allege medical negligence by government hospital staff.
According to the infant’s parents, Ragalla Swaroopa and Rajamouli, the baby was born a week ago at the district government hospital. Five days later, doctors informed them that the child’s condition was deteriorating and advised immediate transfer to Karimnagar for better treatment.
After failing to receive adequate care at the Karimnagar Government Hospital, the family shifted the baby to a private hospital in Hyderabad. However, the child succumbed to health complications on Monday.
Blaming the Sircilla Government Hospital for negligence, the grieving family staged a protest at Ambedkar Chowk in Sircilla town, demanding accountability. Police assured them that appropriate action would be taken, following which the protest was called off.
Meanwhile, hospital officials clarified that the infant was born with a genetic disorder and was referred to another hospital for advanced treatment.
