Inter Board orders installation of wall clocks in exam centres

HYDERABAD: The Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education (TSBIE) has issued orders for the installation of wall clocks in all examination centers. This decision comes after the recent ban on wristwatches in exam halls.

Board Secretary Krishna Aditya issued directives on Saturday, stating that each examination room should have a wall clock, which can be purchased for approximately Rs 100.

Chief superintendents and departmental officials of all exam centers have been instructed to ensure the installation of these clocks by Monday. With exams lasting three hours, students have been struggling to keep track of time. The absence of clocks in exam halls, combined with a lack of timely alerts, has increased stress among students. Following complaints, the Board ordered the installation of wall clocks.

Concerns Over Clock Prices

However, concerns have been raised over the feasibility of purchasing wall clocks for Rs 100. These clocks are available in the market in the price range of Rs 250 to Rs 500. Therefore, some officials suggested that Inter Board procure clocks in bulk and distribute them to exam centers to ensure standard pricing and quality.
