Hyderabad police and Narcotics Enforcement Wing arrested three individuals involved in an inter-state ganja smuggling operation, seizing 41 kg of contraband and cash.
HYDERABAD: An inter-state ganja smuggling gang was busted by the police, leading to the arrest of three individuals.
According to Madhuranagar Inspector G. Srinivas, police had been closely monitoring illegal ganja transportation from Odisha to Telangana. On Tuesday night, Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing and local police conducted a joint raid near Nalanda College in Vengal Rao Nagar. The accused were caught selling ganja in an open area.
The arrested individuals were identified as Bala Hantal (24), a supplier from Koraput, Odisha; Burra Srinivasulu alias Vasu (24) from Kukatpally; and pedlar Gonugunta Abhishek (21), also from Kukatpally. Authorities seized 41 kg of ganja, Rs 40,000 in cash, packing materials, and a Duke bike from them.
Police are investigating further to identify other individuals involved in the illegal operation. Inspector G. Srinivas stated that strict action would be taken to curb such unlawful activities.
