Hyderabad: Excise officials in Jadcherla on Tuesday arrested three people for allegedly selling ganja out of a kirana shop located along the Gunded to Gudityala road in Balanagar mandal. Officials seized 1.2 kilograms of dry ganja worth ₹1 lakh, a two-wheeler, and three mobile phones.
Excise CI Viplava Reddy said the raid followed credible intelligence. Based on the input, SI J. Nagaraju and his team conducted a surprise inspection and caught the accused red-handed.
Ganja packed, sold to local workers
The arrested have been identified as Kishan, Nenavath Krishna, and his wife Lali. During questioning, the trio confessed to sourcing the ganja from Hyderabad. They packed the contraband into six-gram packets and sold each for ₹400 to workers employed in nearby industries.
CI Viplava Reddy stated that the accused were booked and sent to remand. He warned that strict action would be taken against anyone found selling ganja under the Jadcherla excise station limits.
Police urge public to report illegal sales
The CI also appealed to the public to inform police if they suspect any similar illegal activity. The team involved in the seizure included SI Nagaraju and staff members Siddharth, Snehalatha, and Sunitha.
