Hyderabad: Former minister and BRS senior leader Jagadish Reddy on Monday lashed out at Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, saying even his own future remained uncertain while he spoke of a “future city.” He accused the Congress government of pushing real estate deals in the name of development.
Jagadish Reddy alleged that the state pressured L&T to withdraw from Hyderabad Metro and enabled profits of over ₹1,000 crore through the move. He said the government burdened citizens with an additional ₹15,000 crore. He further charged that plans were underway to hand over Metro assets worth ₹35,000 crore to Adani and Megha.
Jagadish Reddy questions ‘future city’
The former minister said Hyderabad Metro was becoming inaccessible to people because of these policies. He mocked the chief minister for promising to extend roads and Metro to areas with no houses or residents. According to him, “This is not a future city, but a city with no future.” He also questioned whether Revanth Reddy and his political allies would end up travelling together to Amaravati.
He alleged that roads across Telangana had fallen into disrepair since Congress came to power. Not a single load of soil had been laid, he claimed. In his view, people no longer believed local body polls would take place because they had lost trust in the government. He further accused the ruling party of deceiving BC communities and imposing its agenda on the state. “This government and its chief minister have turned into a joke,” he remarked.
Metro expansion plans under KCR
Reddy recalled that former chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao had planned Metro expansion in three phases to meet Hyderabad’s needs for the next 50 years. The proposal, he said, was discussed in the Cabinet after ministers shared their inputs. It aimed to link all parts of the city, including Shamshabad airport, with the Metro.
Congress leaders accused of contradictions
In contrast, he said Congress leaders kept issuing conflicting statements. Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy promised completion of the triple R road but later told victims it would not happen soon. He also denied awareness of film ticket price hikes despite the government’s decision.
Jagadish Reddy added that minister Jupally Krishna Rao claimed ignorance about liquor brand changes and related notifications. Congress MLA Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy admitted that the government had cheated unemployed youth by not giving promised jobs, but later downplayed differences with the chief minister.
He also targeted Congress MLAs Anirudh Reddy, Madan Mohan Rao, and Medipalli Satyam. He said Anirudh Reddy spoke about pollution but ran a commissions racket. Madan Mohan Rao, he noted, wrote to the World Bank about floods in his constituency. Medipalli Satyam complained to the Chief Secretary about irregularities in reservations. “What exactly is this government running an administration or a circus?” Jagadish Reddy asked.
