Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) working president and MLA Jagga Reddy gave financial support of ₹3 lakh to a nine-year-old girl from Mahabubabad district who is bedridden due to illness.
The child, Sushma, from Penugonda village in Kesamudram mandal, suffered health complications after she accidentally ate food mixed with insecticide during a visit to her grandmother’s house nine years ago. Since then, she has remained confined to bed and cannot walk.
Sushma’s father, Mahesh, has struggled to afford her treatment at corporate hospitals. Unable to meet the steep costs, he sought help. When their plight came to light, Jagga Reddy met Mahesh personally. He promised support and arranged a full medical evaluation through Dr. Chandrasekhar to check if corrective surgery could help Sushma regain mobility.
Jagga Reddy pledges CM relief for girl’s medical expenses
Jagga Reddy immediately announced ₹3 lakh in aid for medical expenses. He assured that if doctors recommend surgery, he would request Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to sanction financial support from the CM’s Relief Fund.
He appealed to philanthropists and kind-hearted citizens to contribute to Sushma’s treatment. “Humanitarian support is essential to give this child a new life,” he said, asking donors to contact her father, Mahesh, at 9553461480 to extend help directly.
Jagga Reddy also said the Congress government was committed to ensuring that families do not lose access to healthcare because of poverty. He added that efforts will continue to mobilise resources for Sushma’s treatment.
