Jagitial court delivers life term in dowry harassment murder

Hyderabad: A Jagitial district court sentenced Metpally resident Walgott Kishore to life imprisonment and imposed a fine of ₹10,000 in a dowry harassment murder case. Judge Narayana delivered the ruling after reviewing all the evidence presented by investigators.

Dowry harassment murder case examined by the court

Police stated that Kishore married Nishitha of Bandalingapur in 2021. Her parents gave ₹2 lakh, three tolas of gold and household items at the time of the wedding. Even so, Kishore demanded additional dowry. As a result, he began harassing her mentally and physically. The pressure grew, and elders held a panchayat to settle the dispute. Yet the harassment continued without pause.

Later, Kishore forced her to write a suicide note. Soon after, he strangled her and used a nylon rope to kill her. He then created a false suicide narrative and attempted to hide evidence. Her father, Pochaiah, complained when he noticed inconsistencies in the accused’s version. Consequently, the police registered a case and began a deep investigation.

Investigators examined every angle and filed a charge sheet before the court. The court assessed witness statements, forensic inputs and the sequence of events. Ultimately, the judge concluded that the murder was intentional and driven by repeated dowry demands. Therefore, the court imposed a life sentence along with a fine.
