Hyderabad: Telangana Jagruti women leaders staged a protest outside the Telangana Women’s Commission office on Monday, demanding immediate action against MLC Mallanna over his remarks against MLC Kavitha.
Security personnel stopped the group at the gates, citing the chairperson’s unavailability. Protesters engaged in heated arguments with police before staging a sit-in at the entrance.
The protest followed a violent confrontation Sunday, when Jagruti cadre stormed Mallanna’s news channel office in retaliation for his comments.
The controversy began after Mallanna made inappropriate remarks targeting Kavitha during a public meeting, amid a political row over the implementation of 42% reservations for Backward Classes in Telangana.
The exchange has escalated into a statewide political flashpoint, with both camps filing complaints with police.
