Hyderabad: Three workers died after a lift collapsed at a power project construction site in Jawaharnagar, Medchal-Malkajgiri district, on Wednesday evening. The incident occurred at the Jawaharnagar dumping yard, where a chimney installation was underway as part of the ongoing project.
According to police, the lift carrying the workers gave way during operations, causing them to fall from a significant height. The impact resulted in severe injuries, with reports indicating that the victims sustained multiple fractures and crush injuries.
The injured were immediately rushed to Srikara Hospital in ECIL for emergency treatment. However, all three succumbed to their injuries while undergoing medical care.
Police have registered a case based on a complaint filed by the victims’ family members. An investigation is currently underway to determine the cause of the mechanical failure. Preliminary information suggests that other workers may have also suffered minor injuries in the incident, though their conditions are yet to be officially confirmed.
Authorities are examining whether safety protocols were followed during the project operations.
